Universal Peace Federation (UPF) South Asia, successfully concluded Webinar on the theme of “Peaceful Reunification of Korean Peninsula and world peace: Media Perspective.” Webinar was organized on 2nd March, 2021 by Universal Peace Federation (UPF) South Asia.

Dr.Robert S. Kittel, Regional Coordinator, International Media Association for Peace (IMAP) Asia Pacific, in his welcome remarks, briefed the mission of organizing such events on frequent basis highlighting how the media can influence the lives of people throughout the world to achieve the “Greater Good.”

The program’s chair person, former minister of Nepal, and chairman, UPF/IAPP, Asia Pacific, Hon. Ek Nath Dhakal, highlighted the importance of peace throughout the world. He further added UPF is fostering partnership realizing the hope of all ages regardless of the wider geo-political differences. He praised the role of media that has helped to the establishment of peace.

Dr. Thomas P. Mcdevitt, Chairman of Washington Times, the key speaker of the initiative, hopes to encourage the people touching their hearts for world peace. “The media must become conscience of society,” he illustrated what the media can do quoting Dr. Sun Myung Moon, the founder of UPF. He further added media outlets need the help form good governance, core human values and the advocacy of self governing socially responsible media for the sake of peace.

The speaker from Nepal, Mr. Akhanda Bhandari, Editor in-chief, Annapurna Post, focused on the reunification of Korean Peninsula through reconciliation and expressed his well wish from the people of the world to see united Korean people. Mr. Faud Chowdhari, CEO, Deepto Television, Bangladesh, opines media really will help for unifying Korean Peninsulas. Mr. Frid Rais, Executive Producer, Neo News Isalamabad, Pakistan, shared his hostile and painful experience of Pakistan and draws the attention of the world to end the terrorism. As a media personality he takes an opportunity to support for the positivity in the world.
Mr. Sangay Rabten, journalist, Bhutan Times, believes there are complexities and chaos but the secret of living for humanities lies in peaceful involvement of people for common good. Hon. Mohamed Hanim, Former Minister, Ministry of Home Affairs, Maldives, and Hon. Seyed Ali Zahir Moulana, former state minister of Primary Industries and Social Empowerment, hope for the ending of unfriendly relations of Korean Peninsulas and expressed their vigor intent to see the united Peninsulas.

Santosh Kumar Poudel, Director, UPF, South Asia, moderator of the initiation, has presented the brief overview of organization’s recent activities which ended sharing the fruitful discussion with the powerful lime-light of hope of unification.
